What Novaro is, and what it isn’t.
- Does Novaro include any channels, films or series?
- No. Novaro ships with nothing to watch. It is a player: until you connect a playlist or provider account of your own, there is no catalog and nothing to browse. We do not operate, host, sell, resell or curate any content, and we have no library of our own.
- So what am I paying for?
- The software. Novaro organizes a source you already own into a fast, watchable interface across browsers, televisions and phones — catalog browsing, a programme guide, search, subtitles, profiles, resume and favorites. Your subscription with a content provider is separate, and nothing to do with us.
- Where do I get a playlist?
- From wherever you already have one. We do not supply playlists, recommend suppliers, or maintain a list of them, and we cannot help you find one. If you do not already hold the right to access a source, Novaro is not useful to you.
- Does my video pass through your servers?
- On televisions and phones, no — video goes straight from your provider to your device. In a web browser it must pass through us, because browsers refuse to load insecure or cross-origin video into a secure page. We do not record, store or re-publish any of it.
- Why does my source play on TV but not in the browser?
- Because we refuse to relay video. Most providers serve over an unencrypted connection, and a browser will not load insecure video into a secure page — so playing those in a browser would mean routing them through our servers, which we deliberately do not do. The TV and phone apps talk to your provider directly and play everything. Browsing, search and the guide work in the browser either way, and we tell you up front which sources are affected.
- What happens if a rights holder objects to my source?
- We act on valid notices: the source is blocked, its cached catalog is deleted, and you are told why. You can object if you hold the right to access it. The full procedure is in our Copyright Policy. Read it here.
